Hi Reddit!

My wife has been telling me for multiple years to get a job that actually pays a living wage. My job pays me $100k/yr. I have 4 kids and we are late on paying bills almost every month.

Today, my daughter got a huge glass of milk and I had asked her not to drink milk since it’s expensive and we need it for the meals we have ingredients for. My wife got mad and told me that she can drink as much milk as she likes and that it’s ridiculous that I still work at the same place that cannot support a family of 4.

I yelled back. I told her the only problem we actually have is how much she spends on selfish garbage and she has no self-control and just buys whatever she wants and that it is HER that is not supporting this family and it is HER that doesn’t have a job. She says she will never respect me because I won’t do what needs to be done like a “real husband and father” would (aka quit my job and find one that makes what she considers a livable wage, $250k+)

I told her she’s out of her mind, that $100k is a lot of money and way more than most people will ever make. She told me to hire a CPA. When I said I can’t afford that she said “hmmmm” with snark followed by a “whatever dude”

Am I the asshole??

Short bit of context:

My best friend I played competitive soccer with from the age of 10, all the way through high school is getting married to his high school sweetheart (finally after 10 years lol). My best friend and I chose the same college to play soccer at, and went to college for 4 years together. This isn’t like oh hey a friend I knew in high school… we regularly hang out and talk, he’s basically part of my family.

We have another friend we played soccer with who is a very successful GM who opens night clubs and bars in places like Vegas. He’s opening one in Salt Lake, and that’s where the bachelor party is. It’s a bunch of former high school and college teammates meeting up for my friends wedding. The actual wedding is in Kansas City.

My wife doesn’t want me going because, “no.” I’ve asked several times why she’s so opposed to it, and she said “because I don’t want you to.” Meanwhile, she’s going to a mermaid themed bachelorette party at the end of the month in Florida for someone’s she’s know for 4 weeks. She finally said “I don’t trust your friends.” And I simply said you’ve never met them… she said “yeah and idk how they are so I don’t want you hanging out with them.”

These aren’t 21 year old beer chugging frat boys in college looking for their next hook up. They’re dads, with wives and kids. We’re going to have a good time, and there’s nothing I’ve ever done that would make her think I’d go hook up with some chick at a bachelor party…

Am I over reacting? I’m the best man in his wedding, and she doesn’t want me going because she can’t go, she works. But she’s capable of going to a bachelorette party that’s mermaid themed with literal male strippers. I don’t care like it’s not that big of a deal to me with her stuff, but it feels very double standard.

Ive always felt unattractive or unremarkable because of the weight I tend to hold around my face and neck. It fluctuates and some days it is worse than others for some reason. I’m 5 foot 7 and weigh around 145. These pictures to compare the neck and face fatt are only a few days apart. I have a slim build but my face makes me look old I think, my cheeks look they are are starting to sag and I see Jowls forming.  I also feel like I have a man face when I wear my hair up. What do you think?

Last period of the day today I found out a group of female students pulled up another girl's shirt, threw her bookbag in the trash, and started spreading rumors about her to the other classes. The girl ran out of my class in tears before another teacher ran into the bathroom to comfort.  When the teacher exited I was informed of the events that happened, and as I was walking into my classroom I said "that ain't gonna fuckin happen in my class".

 As I talked to my students I informed them of the dangers of bullying, and the consequences of their actions. I did not name any of the bullies by name, but you could tell they knew. 

I know it was unprofessional of me, but that kind of stuff makes my blood boil. I'm just wondering how screwed I am.

 I work at a small private school, but a lot of our students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Any advice y'all could give would be really helpful. 

The administration is aware of the students actions and I have not heard of any consequences yet.
